3 Tips for Laser Hair Removal Treatments in Late Spring

Before you know it, it’ll be shorts and bikini season! But if you’re not so excited about taking up waxing and shaving again now that the weather’s getting warmer, laser hair removal might be on your to-do list this spring. These three tips will help you stay on track for seeing beautiful results from laser hair removal in time for summer.*

1. Avoid Tanning

You might be eager to get started on a tan before summer vacation season officially kicks into gear, but you’ll need to hold off if you’re starting laser hair removal treatments. The laser targets the pigment in your hair follicles, which is how it detects and gets rid of your hair, so if your skin is tanned, the laser will have a hard time distinguishing the pigment in your skin from the pigment in your hair.

In between laser hair removal sessions, you can use a sunless tanner, but make sure it has enough time to wear off before your next appointment.*

2. Don’t Forget SPF

Even if you don’t plan to go outside for long periods of time after LHR—which you shouldn’t— you should still apply sunscreen to protect your skin.UV rays can penetrate the glass windows of your car while driving and can even shine through clouds on a rainy day.

You’ll need to stay out of the sun for the duration of your laser hair removal treatments.

3. Hit the Pause Button on Swimming

If you plan to open up your pool this spring, plan your LHR treatment at least two days beforehand. It’s best to avoid pools, hot tubs and saunas for the first 48 hours following LHR. After that, swimming is fair game!*
