How PicoWay® Resolve Works

PicoWay® Resolve uses short bursts of laser energy to treat minor skin imperfections and signs of aging for a smoother, refreshed complexion. The advanced technology uses the shortest laser pulse available, measured in picoseconds (trillionths of a second) to treat skin discoloration and pigmented lesions such as:

  • Age spots
  • Frecklespicoway-resolve-logo
  • Liver spots
  • Café au lait spots
  • Melasma
  • Scars
  • Stretchmarks

PicoWay® Resolve works by breaking unwanted pigment into tiny particles, which are then gently absorbed by the body. The rapid pulse technology precisely targets the treatment area while preserving the surrounding tissue and stimulates collagen production for a younger, more even skin tone.

PicoWay Resolve FAQs

Am I a candidate for PicoWay Resolve treatment?

The only way we can know with certainty whether or not PicoWay is right for you is to have you come in for a consultation. During this appointment, we will discuss your skin concerns and your aesthetic goals, go over your medical history, talk about other cosmetic treatments you have had, and complete an in-depth skin assessment. This assessment looks at discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, plus any other skin irregularities.

Should we determine that you are a good candidate for PicoWay treatment, we will then go over the finer details of the procedure and how we expect it to improve your skin. If it all sounds good to you, we can then schedule your appointment, potentially the same day as your consult.

Are there conditions that will prevent me from getting PicoWay Resolve treatment?

Yes, there are certain conditions, medications and cosmetic treatments that will disqualify you from PicoWay treatment or mean you need to delay your session. Reasons that can prevent you from getting treatment include:

  • Having tanned within a 30-day window prior to treatment
  • Having had a sunburn in the last three months
  • Accutane use in the previous six months
  • Use of fake tanning products in the previous two weeks
  • Known photosensitivity to infrared light
  • A current acne breakout in the area being treated
  • A current infection or lesion in the area being treated
  • Being pregnant
  • Having a seizure disorder
  • Being on photosensitizing medications within 5 days of treatment
  • Taking any medications or supplements that cause bruising
  • Use of topical medications and skin care products within 72 hours of treatment
  • Certain implanted medical devices
  • Use of BOTOX or fillers in the prior 90 days

How many PicoWay sessions are needed?

This will vary from person to person based on the surface area being treated, the condition you wish to address and your overall aesthetic goals. Some individuals are happy with the results of a single session while others opt for 2 to 5 sessions spaced about 6 weeks apart.

Does PicoWay Resolve hurt?

How individuals perceive pain if highly varied, as is the sensitivity of the skin. Most clients report mild discomfort during their sessions, but not to the point of requiring a topical anesthetic. Do not take pain medication before your session unless we approve its use as this may cause complications.

What will my skin look like after treatment?

PicoWay is considered a no-downtime procedure, but due to the redness it can produce, some prefer to spend the next 1 to 2 days at home. It is safe to apply makeup 24 hours after your PicoWay procedure unless otherwise directed. You may also notice some mild swelling and itchiness, which we can offer tips on managing. If any of this concerns you, we suggest scheduling your treatment on a Friday so you can rest and relax over the weekend.

How long does a PicoWay Resolve treatment session take?

This will depend on the size of the area being treated. For a facial treatment, sessions tend to last around 30 minutes. If you add the neck and hands, expect treatment time to be longer, approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
